TIGER WOLF© was conceived to be a guitar that evokes the image of two historic guitars used by the late Jerry Garcia: The Tiger, and The Wolf. BUT, at a price point that’s affordable to most.
TIGER WOLF© generally melds the forms and the approach of Garcia’s Tiger and Wolf guitars. TIGER WOLF’s© trademark-pending shape evokes the image of those timeless, elegant lines of Garcia’s Tiger on both body and headstock. And the general shape is in the image of the Strat-like Wolf.
And what’s inside is both vintage, and timeless quality as well. CTS and Bourns pots, Switchcraft output jack ensure that you get a clean and reliable circuit path. After years of evaluation, we have found the Dragonfire pickups to be one of the market’s best values—mid range price point with high-end performance. They offer that crystal clear yet ballsy tonal quality that never holds you back. Worthy of such an instrument.
Since Mr. Garcia’s Tiger and Wolf guitars had that legendary penetration, the only way to go on the TIGER WOLF© was three pickups—humbuckers at neck and bridge and single coil in the middle position.
And to top it off, and give you even more tonal flexibility, the Tiger Wolf has a unique blend-pot pickup/switch configuration: When in the neck or neck-middle position, you can blend in as much of the bridge as you want, and when in the bridge or bridge-middle position, you can blend in as much neck pickup as you want. This simple mod allows you to have all three pickups at once, and also to play the middle alone--in its best position for single coil, the middle. Brings you a lot more options, and doesn't bend your mind with push-pull switches and the like.
Everything that touches the TIGER WOLF’s© strings has been carefully selected so that your $500 guitar plays and feels like a $1,500 guitar. From the Wilkinson EZ-Lock, EZ Post tuners, to a bone nut, to the Fender bridge, the mechanical parts compliment and augment TIGER WOLF’s™ electronics.
The TIGER WOLF’s© neck is a truss rod-equipped Canadian maple with rosewood fingerboard. Frets are medium, and leveled and dressed for comfortable play. The neck has been finished in our proprietary 20 step hand rubbed oil finish for a nice sheen and good durability.
The TIGER WOLF© is made of a lightweight, resonant tonewood, and finished in a Rouge toned paint with hand-rubbed oil topcoat finish.
